There are broadly two types of students who enroll into Arabic
courses as follows: |

| 1. Students with G.C.E. or equivalent qualification | |
|
|
2. Students with Diploma in Arabic, Hausa and Islamic Studies or equivalent qualification. |
|
|
|
| a. | The courses outlined in level ONE are meant for the first category of students. In their second year these students enroll in all the "A" courses. |
| b. | Students in the second category and who have obtained distinction or credit are automatically each granted ten credits and are enrolled in all the "B" courses. |
|
|
|

|
|
Students in the two categories are joined together in their third and fourth years of study. The traditional options of offering are retained as follows: |

A Special Honours Student takes the following core courses: ARA 3201, ARA 3204, ARA 3205 and ARA 3206 (two credits each). To make up the required 30 credits, he should take 22 credits from the remaining courses designed. |

A Combined Honours Student takes ARA 3201, ARA 3204 and ARA 3205 (two credits each). In addition he should take six more credits selected from the remaining courses designed. |

A Subsidiary Student should take six credits as follows: ARA 3201, ARA 3204 and ARA 3205 (each two credits). |

A Special Honours Student takes the core courses ARA 4301 and ARA 4302 (three credits each) as well as ARA 4615 (six credits). He should select additional 18 credits from the remaining courses designed. |

A Combined Honours Student should take the core courses ARA 4301 and ARA 4302 (three credits each) and make up the remaining six credits by selecting three courses out of ARA 4203 to ARA 4215. |
| - | A subsidiary student should take the core courses ARA 4301 and ARA 4302 (three credits each). |
